tips to apply eyeshadow

Right Method to apply Eyeshadow

- Apply a little loose translucent powder over your eyelids before applying the eyeshadow.
- Then dab your eyeshadow brush or sponge applicator in the light colored eyeshadow and apply it from the brow to the lash line. It will create a base for application of final eyeshadow as the foundation creates a base on the face for the makeup.
- Use a medium shade eyeshadow up to the crease of the eyelid from the lash line.
- Now to create depth and shade, apply a darker tone on the crease of your eyelid using a small, fine brush.
- Apply the same dark colored eyeshadow to draw a line under the eyes, using a flat angled brush. Using wet brush for this step help to intensify the effect created.
- After applying both colors, it is time to blend the colors. Use a brush to do this job skillfully; avoid using fingers.
- If you wear glasses for near sightedness, apply lighter tones of eyeshadow as glasses make your eyes look small.
- Glasses for far sightedness make your eyes look bigger, so apply more natural shades.

Add on for these Basic Steps

To create a balanced look for eyes, you should follow these tricks given below.

- If your eyes are closer, then you should apply medium to dark color from the middle of eye to the outer corner of eye and on the inside corner of eye, apply lighter tone.
- On the other hand if your eyes far from each other, apply medium tone on the inner half of the eyelid and blend it with lighter tone on the upper half and line eyes with medium toned eyeshadow.
- If you have small eyes, choose lighter tones as the darker tones help in shrinking the eyes.
- For droopy eyes, apply eyeshadow up to outer corner of the eye and spread it upwards and outwards.
- People with deeper eyes should apply light to medium tones, followed by the darker color above the crease of eyelid. Then use a highlighter below the eyebrow.
- Apply eyeshadow on the socket line and on the outer corners of eye. But avoid applying excessive eyeshadow.
- After you have applied the eyeshadow, you find it darker or intense, you can dust a little face powder or just wipe the foundation sponge gently over the eyelid.
- Dust extra loose powder under the eyes so that, it catches the eyeshadow powder, falling from the brush. You can wipe off that extra powder afterwards without smudging the makeup on cheeks.

Types of eyeshadow

Eyeshadow is available in the form of cream, powder and pencil. Selecting the type of eyeshadow depends upon your comfort level. You choose according to your preference. But one thing is sure people with mature skin should go for eyeshadow powder. Another point of difference is matte or frost eyeshadow. Light is absorbed by the matte eyeshadow and it gives flat look whereas frost eyeshadows give sparkling look, as they tend to reflect the light. Matte eyeshadow is the best for the mature eyes. Cream eyeshadows are easy to apply and glide off easily. To set the cream eyeshadow, dust a little loose translucent powder; eyeshadow will stay longer.

Powder eyeshadow is easy to control and apply. It can be obtained in coordinated sets or single color. Powder eyeshadow can be mixed with cream eyeshadow. You can start with neutral colors like beige shadow, pink, brown or dark purple.
