Personal care giant Unilever has announced the appointment of industry expert Esi Eggleston Bracey as EVP & COO of Unilever North America Personal Care, effective January, 2018.
It is the first move Eggleston Bracey has made within the industry following her controversial departure from her role as President for Coty’s Consumer Beauty division last year, when she cited ‘personal reasons’ for her resignation.
Appointed due to her ‘strong track record of business leadership in driving cultural relevancy in brand building’, Eggleston Bracey is set to work alongside Sundial CEO and Executive Chairman Richelieu as part of role in a bid to drive growth of the Sundial portfolio through ‘purpose-driven mission and consumer connectivity’
Taking to her LinkedIn page, Eggleston Bracey said, “Female consumers, and especially women of color…expect realistic and diverse images reflected in advertising and communication, products, and shades that work for women of all shapes, sizes, skin/hair types, and tones. We expect to be valued for all the different roles we play in society as business leaders, athletes, caregivers, political figures, teachers, etc.
Relating her upcoming challenge with Unilever to her recent marathon experience, she continued, “As I lace up for this next leg of my journey, I will run the race with my head (thinking and planning), my legs (enabling and executing), and my heart (passion for the team, community, and consumers) – but this time, all together at once!”
Eggleston Bracey has had a decorated career within the beauty industry, most notably her 25-year employment with Procter & Gamble, having worked as Marketing Director for CoverGirl where she is thought to have breathed new life into the brand.
