Northwest Cosmetic Labs introduces Bag-on-Valve capability

Northwest Cosmetic Labs (NCL) has announced the acquisition of its newest filling capability - Bag-on-Valve (BOV). This technology uses compressed air to provide a continuous spray delivery system. The recent addition will supplies NCLs customers with new product presentation options.

The basic design of BOV includes a bag surrounded by compressed air or nitrogen within a can. When dispensed, the air pushes the product from the bag through the actuator as a foam or a continuous spray. This packaging option provides for optimum product preservation and is eco-friendly.

Lauren Armstrong, R&D Manager said: "This technology is great for our customers because they can have continuous spray products without all of the harmful chemicals used in aerosol."

Numerous formulas can be filled in the BOV including: spray sunscreen, spray foundation, room spray, hairspray, dry oils, creams, body butters, self tanning, body sprays and more. Although the formulas will remain the same, the change in packaging offers consumers an entirely new perspective.

The unique dispensing system is interactive and easy for consumers. The continuous spray requires no pumping and results in no finger fatigue. It can be sprayed in upright and inverted positions allowing for easy application for all types of body care.

BOV also ensures formulas stay clean and avoid contamination. Thick creams that can typically only be packaged in jars permit dust and bacteria to enter at each use. BOV ensures product purity since consumers can only touch what is being expelled.

The BOV machine is easy to set up and accommodates small runs. Customers can expect lower fixed costs and lower price premiums.
