LOréal has decided to stop selling Garnier products in China in the face of increased competition from domestic and South Korean brands. The group said the move would allow it to focus its efforts on its best performing brands in the country. According to Reuters, a LOréal spokesperson said: “To strengthen our leading position, we have decided to discontinue the sales of Garnier products in China and focus our efforts on two leading brands – LOréal Paris, the number one beauty brand, and Maybelline New York, the number one make-up brand in China.”
LOréals announcement comes just a week after US beauty giant Revlon said that it intended to cease operations in China as part of its restructuring effort.
