Coty has issued a public apology after airing TV ads featuring American actor Paul Walker, who died earlier this month in a car accident. According toE! News, fans of the actor were “outraged” after a commercial starring Walker for Davidoffs Cool Water fragrance was aired in the UK during a high profile soccer match.
In an official statement toE!, Coty CEO Michele Scannavini said: "Coty, Inc., the global beauty company that has worked closely with Paul Walker, is saddened to hear the news of his sudden death. As the face of Davidoff Cool Water, Paul contributed to the National Geographic Love the Ocean campaign, whose mission is to protect the ocean. His talent, generosity and passion for giving back were admirable."
He added: "We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Pauls family, friends and fans around the world," noted in the statement. "We are working quickly to suspend all of our ads featuring Paul out of respect to his family and friends. We apologise for any upset that may have been caused by those that were aired subsequent to his death."
The 40 year old star ofThe Fast and the Furioushas been the face of the Davidoff Cool Water fragrance since 2011.
