IMCD Group, a specialty chemicals and food ingredients company, has acquired 100% of the shares of Chemimpo South Africa (Pty) Ltd, through its subsidiary IMCD South Africa.
Chemimpo South Africa, which is headquartered in Johannesburg, also has branches in Cape Town and Durban. Integration of the two companies will take place in 2013 and the new combined operation will have approximately 90 employees.
Piet van der Slikke, CEO of Rotterdam-based IMCD, said: “The activities of IMCD and Chemimpo are highly complementary and we are delighted to welcome such a well respected distributor to the group. Working with leading supplier partners, the two companies share a similar culture and ethos focusing on the growth of specialty chemicals and food ingredients through technical innovation and commercial tenacity.”
Otto Brinkmann, Chemimpos Managing Director, will head up the combined operation and added: "We are all excited with this change as it significantly increases our customer base, laboratory presence and sales personnel, delivering exhaustive market penetration.”
