Helen of Troy reports record Q3 2013 results

Helen of Troy Limited, the designer, developer and marketer of personal care, household and health care consumer products, has reported record third quarter results in 2013.

Net sales revenue totalled $374.5m compared to $338.7m in the same period of the prior year, an increase of $35.8m or 10.6%. Net sales revenue for the nine months ended November 30, 2012 was $962.2m versus net sales revenue of $887.6m in the same period of the prior year, an increase of $74.5m or 8.4%.

In the personal care segment specifically, net sales totalled $148.6m compared to $148.9m for the same period last year, a decrease of $346,000 or 0.2%. For the nine months ended November 30, 2012, net sales revenue in the personal care segment was $378.5m compared with $386.9m for the same period last year, a decrease of $8.4m or 2.2%.

Gerald J Rubin, chairman, chief executive officer and president, said: “During the third quarter, we achieved record net sales revenue and record net income. In fact, this was the best quarter in the company’s history in terms of net sales and net income.” However, he added: “The personal care segment continues to make a positive contribution to the company’s earnings, but net sales in this segment have been weaker than expected.”
