Symrise opens Center of Excellence near Sao Paulo

Symrise AG has strengthened its operations in Latin America with the opening of a Centre of Excellence near São Paulo, Brazil. The €12m facility, which took around 12 months to build, combines the company’s research and development work, which until now have been carried out at two different locations. It also links R&D to market research, sales and marketing activities for Symrise’s Scent & Care and Flavor & Nutrition divisions.

The company says the aim is to strengthen and foster the development of products tailored specifically for the Latin American market. Commenting on the centre, Symrise ceo Dr Heinz-Jürgen Bertram said: “The economies in Latin American countries are growing at a rapid pace. The standard of living is rising and with it the demand for luxury and consumer goods. In turn we are also disproportionately growing in the region. Over the last few years we have experienced rapid market growth and Latin America will remain one of our most important growth regions in the future. Our new location is our largest in Latin America and we have clearly located it at the centre of Brazil’s economy.”
