In the future, the premium magazines COSMOPOLITAN, JOY and SHAPE will be associated with the name Bauer. A contract to this effect was signed by the Bauer Media Group and publisher Jürg Marquard. Publisher Yvonne Bauer thereby embarks on a new path, since with this step, the Bauer Media Group enters the premium market. The titles with strong sales that the Bauer Media Group already owns will now be complemented by magazines with large potential for advertising in the lifestyle and luxury segments. Yvonne Bauer is quoted as saying, "With strong brands in our portfolio, this transaction provides us with new marketing and sales opportunities both in the areas of print and digital media. We look forward to working with a successful and dedicated team in Munich, led by Executive Director Waltraut von Mengden."

The agreement stipulates that the operation of the German magazine titles as well as the corresponding online activities will be taken over by the Bauer Media Group. The transaction includes 100 percent of German Premium Magazines AG based in Zug, Switzerland, as well as 100 percent of the Munich-based MVG Media Verlagsgesellschaft mbh&Co.

The acquisition is conditional of approval by the antitrust authorities. Both parties agreed on non-disclose of the purchase price.

With COSMOPOLITAN, the Bauer Media Group is taking over the German edition of the worlds largest international womens magazine. For over 30 years, the magazine has been highly successful in the German market, appealing to working, sophisticated and affluent women.

The Bauer Media Group is one of Europes leading magazine publishers. It publishes 396 magazines and 112 online products in 15 countries, and employs approximately 8,700 people. In Germany alone, the media company publishes 62 magazines. The sales of the Bauer Media Group are € 2.004 billion (projection 2011).
