20th anniversary: DUFTSTARS award presented in Berlin

Over 800 guests from the industry, publishing companies and the retail business as well as numerous VIPs who attended the industry event of the year in the Tempodrom were greeted by Susanne Rumbler, President of the Fragrance Foundation and Managing Director Martin Ruppmann.

Susanne Rumbler, President of Fragrance Foundation Deutschland: "The presentation of DUFTSTARS 2012 was something very special. After all, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of this wonderful prize. It was a truly splendid gala with brilliant guests, excellent musical interludes and fantastic presenters. The fragrances of the year were celebrated in glamorous style. The anniversary year also shows that perfumes play a huge role for many people and that perfumers have once again displayed excellence in their creations."

Boris Entrup presented the first prize of the evening in the category Lifestyle Women. It went to the fragrance Dita von Teese who, together with Benno Olschewsky, accepted the prize personally.

Kim Fischer presented the prize in the category Lifestyle Men for David Beckham Homme, and Dr. Joachim Lubig was pleased about the 6th Duftstar for the exceptional soccer player.

The prize in the Personality category went to Jean Paul Gaultier for his life’s work. Presenter Cristiane Arp was full of admiration for the “enfant terrible” of fashion, who became famous worldwide when he created Madonnas cone bra in 1990. The audience applauded the designer with minute-long standing ovations.

Presenter Thomas Rath awarded the prize in the category Audience Award Prestige Women to Eve by Jil Sander; Nicole Nitschke from Coty Prestige was accompanied by Karoline Herfurth, brand ambassador for the fragrance.

The Audience Award Prestige Men was presented to Armani Code Sport by Franziska Knuppe.

In the category Audience Award Lifestyle Women, Made for Women Bruno Banani was the winner and Marie Bäumer called Christian Rahmig to the stage to accept the prize.

Fresh Man by Mexx emerged as the winner of the Audience Award Lifestyle Men and Ivy Quainoo, winner of "Voice of Germany", presented the prize.

In the category Classic Women, the award went to 24, Faubourg by Hermès; Stephan Seidel, Managing Director of Clarins accepted the prize.

Gudrun Landgrebe was presenter in the category Classic Men which went to Allure Homme by Chanel; Managing Directress Birgit Eckstorff was able to bring home the prize.

In the category Exclusive Women, Bottega Veneta was the winner and Rüdiger Firlus received the prize from Kena Amoa.

Mirja DuMont announced the triumph for Marc Jacobs’ Bang Bang in the category Exclusive Men and Cristina Donescu was thrilled about the distinction once again accorded to a fragrance by Marc Jacobs.

The Best Flacon Design award went to Armani Privée and Eva Breuer was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the whole team.

The winner of Prestige Women was Le Parfum by Elie Saab and Timothy Peach presented the trophy to perfumer Francis Kurkdjian and Nadja Schulze-Cesareo of BPI.

Stephan Luca awarded the winning prize in the category Prestige Men to Maria de Castillo Hoerum for LHomme Libre by Yves Saint Laurent.

Prize for the best printed advertisement: Le Parfum Elie Saab

Prize for the best TV spot: Nazan Eckes presented the prize to Bart de Boever for J’adore Dior.
