Among the participants of the 10 km race was the German marathon champion Irina Mikitenko, who won the race in 33:19 minutes. Kathrine Switzer, the first woman ever to run a marathon, was present as a special guest. 29 years ago, she launched the Avon Womens Race, at the time with about 150 participants.
Since 8 years, the race takes place under the banner "running against breast cancer". Steve Jacquin, Managing Director of Avon Germany, presented a cheque for EUR 26,000 on behalf of Avon.
