Merck signs deal to market boron nitride filler

ESK Ceramics has signed a deal with Merck to market ESK’s functional fillers for the cosmetics industry. The Boroneige functional fillers will be marketed under Merck’s RonaFlair brand.
The RonaFlair Boroneige functional fillers consist exclusively of boron nitride which Merck did not previously have in its range. It is a very pure powder substrate with a white colour and claimed to have heavy metal values well below statutory limit values. The products are said to have a mattifying effect, give cosmetic formulations a smooth texture and provide for a soft focus effect when incident light scatters so that wrinkles and skin imperfections are rendered virtually invisible.
They are available in different particle sizes and can be used in a wide variety of cosmetic applications.
“We are convinced that our customers will benefit from our co-operation with ESK as it will give them immediate access to an even broader range of functional fillers,” said Dr Matthias Lergenmüller who is responsible for the global cosmetics business at Merck.
In addition to marketing the RonaFlair Boroneige products, Merck will be responsible for application technology customer support. The agreement, which is effective immediately, will apply globally outside of North America.
