NuSil expands silicone production capacity

Silicone materials manufacturer NuSil Technology is to expand its production capacity in Bakersfield, California. The company has already completed construction of a third building which will increase its polymer processing capacity and provide additional warehousing space.

Construction is now under way on a fourth building which will become the centre for quality assurance, human resources and engineering and will also feature an enlarged QA testing laboratory and expanded office facilities.

Two additional manufacturing buildings have been designed and are progressing towards the permit stage. The company says it is on track with its plans to reach a total of seven buildings on the 15 acre site.

“The goal of this campus expansion is to increase plant capacity by three to four times over the next few years,” said vice president of engineering James Yabsley.

“This facility will result in increased employment opportunities across many functional areas at NuSil Technology’s Bakersfield campus,” added Bill Klansek, vice president of manufacturing. “MoorehouseCowles, a NuSil subsidiary, will be designing and building much of the equipment necessary to support the new manufacturing processes.”
