Inter Parfums, Inc has reported record results for the first quarter 2012, with a net sales increase of 24%, up from $133.4m to $165.4m.
Sales by US based operations were up 71% to $20.2m from $11.8m, while European based operations generated sales of $145.2m, up 19%. Commenting on the US, Jean Madar, chairman and ceo of Inter Parfums, said: “The 71% increase in sales was due to several factors, including new product launches such as Love Fury by Nine West, Wildbloom Vert for Banana Republic and Gap Established 1969. The inclusion of Anna Sui fragrance sales effective 1 January was also an important contributor as were further gains by our US specialty retail and designer fragrance brands in overseas markets.”
As previously reported, the success of European based operations were also put down to a number of factors including the fact that Burberry’s brand sales and Lanvin fragrance sales were both up 12%, while Jimmy Choo and Montblanc brand sales rose 68% and 77% respectively.
For the US, a new product line-up is also in the pipeline, which includes Works & Dreams for bebe, Miss Madison for Brooks Brothers, Wildbloom Blue for Banana Republic, and two flankers, Too Too Pretty for Betsey Johnson and Fairy Dance Secret Wish for Anna Sui.
