At In-Cosmetics in Barcelona, AkzoNobel Global Personal Care is introducing a line of bioactive ingredients based on Zeta Fraction, a patented harvesting technology that was acquired from Integrated Botanical Technologies (IBT) in summer of 2011. This technology harvests and separates constituent parts of a living cell from any plant or marine source without requiring any solvents.
The first launch in the line, Recentia CS (INCI: Camellia Sinensis Flower/Leaf/Stem Juice), capitalizes on the powerful, biologically active substances contained in the fresh (living) leaves of the Camellia sinensis tea plant. This ingredient provides multiple activities working together to protect skin against root causes of skin photoaging by quenching damaging free radicals and reactive oxygen species that also trigger inflammatory response, inhibiting production of inflammation messengers, protecting against tissue-damaging enzymes and stabilizing photoliable molecules.
The fraction is recommended at 0.1–1.0% in anti-aging products, sun care products, after sun treatments and daily wear products.
