SARISE™ BIO is a natural phytocomplex combining sour cherry and summer savory extracts. A special production method yields a high content of known active molecules, namely triterpenoids (ursolic acid), rosmarinic acid and flavonoids (quercetin). SARISE™ BIO neutralizes Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) directly, but offers the added value of reducing intracellular oxidative stress even further by boosting mitochondrial activity. This complementary effect, brought about by activating the TGR5 receptor, brings yet another added value to SARISE™ BIO, which is the increase in energy production required to maintain keratinocyte and fibroblast metabolism.
A reduction of oxidative stress in the skin after UV irradiation was measured in a clinical trial on 20 volunteers following application of a 2% SARISE™ BIO formula. The chosen marker for oxidative stress was malondialdehyde (MDA), one of the most frequently used indicators of lipid peroxidation. The more MDA is present, the higher the oxidative stress. The content of MDA was measured 4 hours and 24 hours after UV exposure following 5 days of prior treatment with 2% SARISE™ BIO. SARISE™ BIO significantly reduced the oxidative stress by 29% and 33% after 4 and 24 hours, respectively.
Thus, SARISE™ BIO protects the skin against the main triggers of premature aging through a direct and significant effect on cell metabolism and oxidative stress.
