Ferrules are the tapered metal tube that holds the brush hair filaments and are designed for the basic shape and size of the makeup brush. These are made of different materials - aluminium, nickel, gold, satin, copper lacquered, chrome, black chrome and nickel-plated. Seamless nickel-plated ferrules usually appear shinier, with darker tone than aluminium. While manufacturing, there is a high stress on its dimensional accuracy and perfect surface finish.
The brush handles are designed with specific types and techniques of the brush’s purpose. The brush handle must be balanced properly to be comfortable to hold and manipulate and at the same time it must also be strong to withstand pressure. Many scholastic and mass-produced handles are made from hard woods for these reasons. Handle styles directly relate to the brushes particular tasks and today makeup brushes are also made of strong structural material that resists water and solvents.
